Bruce

Bruce is a larger than life, full of joy English Bull Terrier.

Due to five years of neglect and a lack of social interaction, Bruce – although full of enthusiasm – lacked the training that a full size adult dog should have received. He was a very special chap who had no concept of his size or strength, and was convinced he was a little pup who needed to sit on your lap and have a hug. At over 40Kg he was a very big baby!

Bruce had no concept that some people or other dogs may not have appreciated his love, and he had bucketfuls of love to share – at full speed and full enthusiasm level.

Because of this he had struggled to find the right home, and had been with us for two years. He was a wonderful chap who needed lots of care!

With the help of Pets at Home, we held a fundraising campaign to build him a home-from-home in the garden of Ruth’s house. His summer house allowed him to slowly integrate into the rest of the house pack and leave behind the relative isolation of kennel life.

We felt extremely privileged to have had such a splendid character in our midst.

Bruce has found his forever home with an amazing local family. The first few nights were a little difficult for a boy who had never properly lived in a home but all has turned out well.

Bruce will however be back to volunteer with his Mum and Dad to walk his mates! This amazing family are not abandoning us but will continue to come and walk the centre dogs.
